New assessments, new measures, highlights: an update on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic.

- Bolsonaro threatens to leave WHO -

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has threatened to withdraw his country from the World Health Organization, like his American counterpart Donald Trump, to protest against the "ideological bias" of the UN organization.

- Nearly 396,000 dead -

The pandemic of the new coronavirus has killed 395,977 people worldwide since its appearance in December in China, according to a report established by AFP from official sources Saturday at 11:00 GMT.

The United States is the most affected country in terms of number of deaths and cases (109,143 deaths for 1,897,838 official cases). Then come the United Kingdom with 40,261 dead, Brazil with 35,026 dead, Italy with 33,774 dead and France with 29,111 dead.

The spread of the virus has accelerated in Latin America, where Brazil has become the third most bereaved country in the world.

- Iran: living long with the virus -

Iranian President Hassan Rohani warned on Saturday that the fight against the Covid-19 disease was far from over and called on his compatriots to prepare to live "a long time" with the virus.

- Europe: Belgium deplores "tourist competition" -

The European Union is unable to coordinate for the reopening of its borders, because the countries have entered into a form of tourist competition, deplored Saturday the head of Belgian diplomacy Philippe Goffin.

- The Palace of Versailles reopens -

The Palace of Versailles, one of the most visited tourist places in the world, reopens on Saturday after more than 82 days of confinement, without the Americans and Asians who made up 30% of its visitors.

French Polynesia will reopen its borders on July 3 and lighten the quarantine imposed on new arrivals, before removing it on July 15 to allow the resumption of international tourism.

- Tokyo Olympics, in 2021 or not at all -

"The (Tokyo) Games will take place in 2021 or will not take place," said Belgian Pierre-Olivier Beckers, senior IOC official, who notably chairs the Coordination Commission for the JO-2024, in an interview with the newspaper. Belgian L'Avenir.

- Events -

In Kazakhstan, more than 100 opposition activists were arrested on Saturday during the first protest since the easing of the containment. They demanded in particular debt relief for the population hit hard by the crisis.

In France, the authorities banned demonstrations organized on Saturday in Paris to denounce racism and police violence, recalling the ban on gatherings of more than ten people due to the pandemic.

Tens of thousands of Australians demonstrated on Saturday to denounce racial inequality, defying government orders and the pandemic.

- Filming allowed in California -

Film and television filming will resume in California on June 12, the governor's office announced, stressing that they would remain subject to strict sanitary measures.
