06 June 2020 The coronavirus pandemic is making its grip on Latin America strong these days, and in the last 24 hours the contagion curve has shown a clear surge with 1,238,101 cases (+84,163), while the dead have reached altitude 62.195 (+2.851). This is what emerges from a statistic elaborated by the Ansa on the basis of the data of 34 Latin American nations and territories.

The Brazil continues to attract the attention of experts and the number of those infected, 645,771 (+30,830), both that of the 35,026 deaths that are (+1005). Peru ranks second (187,400 and 5,162) and Chile ranks third (122,499 and 1,448).

Among the nations with more than 5,000 infections, Mexico (110,026 and 13,170), Ecuador (41,575 and 3,534), Colombia (36,635 and 1,145), the Dominican Republic (18,708 and 525), Argentina (21,037 and 632 ), Panama (15.044 and 363), Bolivia (12.245 and 415), Guatemala (6.154 and 158) and Honduras (5.880 and 243).

There are now 1.9 million coronavirus cases in the US and 109,000 victims, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. But the most alarming figure - underlines the New York Times on the basis of its database - is that we still travel to an average of over 20 thousand new cases per day: 21,614 on Thursday, especially in the south of the country and in part of the west coast characterized by new outbreaks. Great concern is also linked to the possible surge in the infections due to the protests taking place in all the United States.
