- They said that my social security number is out on the internet and that I needed to protect myself against fraudsters. But I didn't want their service.

Anita Salvén from Stockholm says she always tries to be careful not to go on the phone salesmen's trick. So when she got a bill almost two months after a call from the Nordic Watch Group, she was surprised.

Expensive history

When she then turned to the company to say that something had gone wrong, she replied that she had accepted the service in a text message. As a result, she also had to continue to pay for the entire three-year term.

Total cost: SEK 8,964.

- They said that the right of withdrawal expired in two weeks. But how could I undo something I didn't know I was committed to, says Anita to SVT's consumer editorial Plus.

Many complaints

The Swedish Consumer Agency, which has examined the company, believes that the Nordic Monitoring Group uses misleading sales methods, and that they also apply unreasonably long binding times.

The Nordic Guard Group is also the ID protection company that has received by far the most complaints and complaints against it in the past year.

"Regrettably"

Marcus Ericsson, Sales Manager at the Nordic Watch Group, writes in an email to Plus that Anita has accepted the agreement and that she has been informed of her right to regret.

“We believe that the text message sent is sufficient and contains everything required. Then it is obviously regrettable when a customer feels dissatisfied or even worse misled. ”

Several dissatisfied customers that Plus talked to say that they both felt stressed by the sellers and that they did not perceive that the text message could constitute an agreement. The same type of dissatisfaction can also be read in several reports against the company with the General Complaints Board.

"Hopeless"

Anita Salvén is now hoping to get back the money she has already paid and that she will get out of the agreement. But the company did not want to promise.

- My pension is not great. It's damn good for them to do this.
