Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced today, Saturday, a political initiative to end the conflict in Libya.

Sisi said, in a press conference in Cairo today in the presence of the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Aqila Saleh, and the leader of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter, that the seriousness of the current situation will extend its repercussions to the regional and international milieu.

Al-Sisi warned against any party insisting on searching for a military solution to the Libyan crisis, announcing its agreement with Haftar and his mentor Saleh to put forward a political initiative to end the conflict in Libya.

He pointed out that the proposed initiative calls for a cease-fire in Libya starting from the eighth of this month and the expulsion of foreign militias from Libya.

Al-Sisi discussed today with Aqila Saleh and Khalifa Haftar the developments of the current Libyan situation.

This came during the reception of the Egyptian President at the Federal Palace, Aqila Saleh, and Khalifa Haftar, in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Mohamed Zaki, the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence, Abbas Kamel, the President of the Egyptian Parliament, Dr. Ali Abdel-Al, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry, according to him. The spokesman said, in a press statement today, that the Egyptian President's meeting with the Libyan leaders comes from the premise of Egypt's steadfast desire to achieve security and political stability in Libya and its brotherly people, and considering that Libya's security is an extension of Egyptian national security, in addition to the impact of the repercussions of the current Libyan situation on the regional and international milieu .
