“The Security Council adopted resolution 2526 (2020), deciding to extend the permits set forth in resolution 2473 (2019) for another 12 months,” the press release said.

These measures allow states to conduct inspections of ships on the high seas off the coast of Libya in case of suspicion of violation of the Security Council embargo on arms supplies.

Previously, the UN condemned the increasing incidence of deliveries of weapons and military equipment to both sides of the conflict in Libya.
