The UAE has sent aid containing 6.6 tons of raw materials to the United Kingdom to be able to produce millions of personal protective equipment.

The cargo, on a chartered private flight, arrived at Heathrow airport this morning and contained 6.6 tonnes of non-woven fabric, an essential component of making gags.

There is currently a global shortage of these materials, and this shipment will enable the UK to manufacture millions of medical respirators.

Mansour Abdullah Khalfan Belhoul, the country's ambassador to the United Kingdom, said: "We are pleased with our ability to help Britain, which is one of the closest friends and allies of the United Arab Emirates. The state is committed to providing a helping hand wherever possible to help limit the spread of the (Covid-19) virus."

This assistance comes within the framework of the state’s solidarity, cooperation and tireless work with the countries of the world in curbing the spread of this pandemic. Soon after the virus appeared, it re-equipped factories to produce personal protective equipment.

The UAE provided HIV / 19 virus detection tests to the largest population, and recorded exceptional figures globally compared to its population, and has conducted more than two million tests so far. Free tests were provided for those showing symptoms across the country.

The model management of the supply chain in the country enables it to maintain its stock of material from which the masks are used and which are used in the oil industries and are produced in the Emirates.

The UAE sent more than 716 tons of medical aid to 63 countries, and more than 716,000 health care workers worldwide benefited from it containing the Covid-19 virus.

Last April, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, "may God bless him", ordered 60 tons of urgent medical assistance to the United Kingdom.

The Excel London Exhibition and Convention Center, which is wholly owned by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), in cooperation with the specialized health authorities in the United Kingdom, has been transferred to a temporary field hospital to face the repercussions of the emerging corona virus (Covid-19).
