Political scientist advocated the transfer of all the Kuril Islands to Japan

The material notes that Russia does not make concessions in negotiations with Japan on the issues of the Kuril Islands. 

According to Kashiyama, the Japanese government at the moment insists on the "transfer" of only two islands of the South Kuril Islands.

The political scientist claims that instead, claims must be made on all four islands of the archipelago.

On May 19, it was reported that Tokyo returned the wording of the “northern territories,” as Kunashir, Iturup, Shikotan, and Habomai are called there, designating them as “islands to which sovereignty extends” to Japan.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Japan’s decision to return the issue of the Kuril Islands to the Blue Book on Diplomacy contradicts the task of creating a favorable atmosphere in bilateral relations.

The Blue Book on Diplomacy is the annual report of the Japanese Foreign Ministry on relations with other countries.
