French striker Antoine Griezmann, who is about to take over the Spanish Liga with FC Barcelona, said that after his Catalan adventure he wanted to "end" his career in the North American Championship (MLS), in an interview granted Thursday at the Los Angeles Times.

"Winning the Liga and the Champions League with Barça is a dream, and also my goal," he said. "After winning, whatever happens, there is another World Cup (to be won) in Qatar. And after MLS."

"I don't know which team, but I really want to play it. For me, it's a goal to end my career in the United States, with the possibility of playing well and being part of the team that fights for a title, "he insisted.

Two years ago, Griezmann had already mentioned his desire to end his career in North America, then indicating his preference for Los Angeles and Miami, anticipating the club project set up by the British star David Beckam, whose Inter made its big debut in March before the coronavirus stopped the season after just two days.

The 29-year-old world champion with the Blues in 2018 is still far enough from retirement and has indeed still everything to gain at Barça, where he has not yet given the full measure of his talent alongside the star Lionel Messi, since his arrival in the summer of 2019.

While the championship will resume on June 11 with 11 days to go, Barça are leading with two points ahead of their big rival, Real Madrid.

In the Champions League, whose recovery has not yet been recorded, the Blaugrana must receive Naples in the second round of return, after a draw (1-1) brought from Campania.
