In the past, students have had the opportunity to celebrate their degree by driving a car around the city, but this year is different. Because of the prevailing corona pandemic, it is forbidden.
- Very boring but we have accepted the situation and tried to find something that mimics the music and everyone in the class who stand together and dance. Many have seen Skam and thought it looked like a fun tradition, then we saw party bus as a great alternative, says Elsa Wagenius, a student at Procivitas high school in Helsingborg.
Great demandSeveral companies that rent party buses tell us that there has been tremendous pressure. Many classes have been denied as all buses have been fully booked. A company in Gothenburg says that they have booked about five classes only in Skåne.
- The same afternoon that the pickup was banned, I was e-mailed. I've had to deny over 100 classes, says Tommy Ankargren, self-employed.
What did this mean for you?
- The buses have been standing still and all arrangements completely failed when the corona epidemic came. It has been a disaster, but now we got some respite for two weeks with these runs.
Avoids traveling collectivelyPreviously, the flakes have been open and attracted crowds, but with the party buses it will be different, Elsa Wagenius says. Here, only the class of 36 students in a closed bus will celebrate.
- If we hadn't had the party bus in the morning, most people would have gone to school collectively, which is problematic given the pandemic, says Elsa Wagenius.
How do you think about the directives - to keep distance?
- We spend so much time with our class, even all day before, that we think it is safe. Some parents have been worried, but we have said that we are behaving according to the restrictions, she says.
