Today, Wednesday, the New York Times quoted senior officials as saying that the administration of President Donald Trump has chosen five companies as the most likely candidate to produce a vaccine for the emerging corona virus.

The newspaper said: The five companies are Moderna and AstraZeneca in partnership with Oxford University, Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Co. and Pfizer.

There is no approved vaccine for Covid-19 disease caused by infection with the emerging coronavirus.

The newspaper said that among the drug manufacturers that are competing to develop a vaccine that was not chosen by the Trump administration are the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi, the American biotechnology company Novafax and the Innovio drug company.

The newspaper, quoting officials, announced that the decision would be announced at the White House within the next few weeks.
