- I'll probably think about what my parents have said when I drink alcohol for the first time, says Uppsalabon Emma Danielsson, 14 years.

Overall, young people's alcohol consumption has halved in the last 25 years, according to CAN, the Central Association for Alcohol and Drug Information. The reasons are believed to be that young people sit at home more in front of their screen, and that many people invest in sports rather than partying.

Want rules

Ahead of school closures, IQ has conducted a survey of over 500 young people aged 14-17, and most of them - 88 percent - think it's good if parents have clear rules about alcohol.

Three out of four young people also want their parents to sit up and wait for them when they have been out in the evening.

The answers in the survey do not surprise Mattias Lindh, assistant alcohol coordinator on the county administrative board.

- It's healthy - young people are often questioned. And even though they have the opportunity to search for information online, they often want to have a dialogue with the parents, he says.
