Handsome, overwhelming talent and the ability to diversify is the magic mix that characterized the career of the late artist Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, no one imagined that the handsome boy with European childish features, who were trapped in romantic roles at the beginning of his artistic journey, will himself become "Sheikh Hosni" who rebels against his being He blindly drives a motorbike, or becomes a "moody" drug dealer and popular singer in "Al-Kaif", a spy in "Raafat Al-Hajan", and a terrorist in "Bab Al-Khalq".

The artistic intelligence was the most important characteristic of Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, who was called the sorcerer and ghoul, who today marks the seventy-fourth anniversary of his birth on June 4, 1946 in Alexandria. He began his journey from the university theater while studying at the Faculty of Agriculture, before the director Nour Al Demerdash gave him the real breakthrough To professionalize a role in the series "Al-Dawama" beginning of the seventies.

A strong competitor to the seventies generation

His features helped him to launch towards the world of absolute heroism, so he became a competitor to Nour al-Sharif and Mahmoud Yassin, as he made a successful duo with many artists at this stage, so he presented his first heroism in 1975 in the movie "Until the End of Life" in front of Najwa Ibrahim, then he participated with Souad Hosni in films “Shafiqa and Metwally” and with Nelly, he presented the “Sad Night Bird”.

But in the era of the eighties, Abdel Aziz decided to move away from the handsome romantic boy’s circle, and focused on presenting diverse personalities, so the beginning was to establish a new artistic stage that would support his career. He gave up the absolute heroism in the movie “Shame,” and participated in the collective tournament with Nour El-Sherif and Hussein Fahmy. Among the works during which he also left an imprint at that stage were the movie "The Virgin and White Hair", "Counterfeiting in Official Papers", "Please Give Me This Medicine", "But Something Remains", and "The House of Minors".

Daring diversity

Experimentation was also a distinctive feature of Mahmoud Abdel Aziz's artistic life, so the third stage in his career was cooperation with directors with a different vision at this time, and it spanned from the eighties until the new millennium.

He presented films with the author, scriptwriter and director Raafat El-Mihy, including "Samak Laban Tamr," "My Ladies My Women" and "The Gentlemen's Men", all of which were characterized by cinematic experimentation and Mahmoud Abdel Aziz's performance during which was marked by comedic sense.

In the year 1985, he presented the movie "Al-Saalik" with the writer and director Dawood Abdel-Sayed, who said at the time that his expressions indicate a talent, diligence and understanding of the character, which prompted him to repeat the experience with him in the movie "Kitkat", taken from Ibrahim Aslan's novel "Malik Al-Hazen". And the personality of Sheikh Hosni Al-Kafif, whom he presented, became a mark in his artistic journey.

The coloration was a clear feature of the characters presented by Abdel Aziz, such as the character of Colonel Tawfiq Sharks in the movie "Innocent" with the director Atef Al-Tayyib, as he is the leader of the sadistic prison who tortures detainees and tries to humiliate them in various ways, while in his home he appears in contrast to a peaceful meek.

In 2001, he presented with Radwan El-Kashef the movie "The Magician", which later became his title.

Spy is the beginning of television brilliance

When Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz presented the epic "Raafat Al-Hajan" in three parts with the author Saleh Morsi and director Yahya Al-Alami, this was a prelude to the stage of transition to the world of drama in which he found his lost after retreating from presenting championships in the cinema. Through the series, Abdel Aziz was able to succeed in Introducing the character of "Spy", which was planted by Egyptian intelligence inside Israel, and it is not the only experiment he has in the spy world, as he also presented the movie "Execution of a Dead".

Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, at that point, he had started presenting medium-value films and did not achieve the success that he was achieving throughout his career, such as "The Fun Market", "Harmonica", "The Mongoose" and even "Baby Doll Night", which was then said to be the highest production budget in Egyptian cinema, estimated at 40 million Egyptian pounds (approximately 8 million dollars), but it did not achieve the expected success.

Abdel Aziz stopped for a period that might have been to recount the accounts, and he gave up the cinematic championship in his latest movie, "Ibrahim Al Abyad", and presented the personality of Abdul Malik Zarzur, who brought him back to success again, but then decided to return to the drama like the big stars, and he was keen to cooperate With a young generation of writers and creators, he presented the series "Mahmoud Al Masry", "Bab Al Khalq" and "Jabal Al Halal".

Leader competition

Mahmoud Abdel Aziz did not make any noise or oppression contrived in his competition for the largest Egyptian artist, as he won the tournament from his competitor Adel Imam in several roles, such as the series "Raafat Al-Hajan", who was his candidate for Imam, after his success in the series "Tears in the eyes of slut", as well as The "Kit Kat" movie, which starred after Abdulaziz after a competition with Adel Imam. As for the movie "Hassan and Morcos", Abdel Aziz was a candidate to share the championship with Adel Imam instead of Omar Sharif, but Abdel Aziz refused to participate in the film for fear that the author Youssef Maati wrote in favor of highlighting Adel Imam, according to press statements by the film critic Tariq Al Shenawi.
