US President Donald Trump, on the night of Wednesday, said he does not think he will need the help of military forces to counter the protests sparked by the killing of a defenseless black man in the city of Minneapolis by police during his arrest.

"I don't think we will have to," Trump said in an interview with Newsmax television, when asked if he would send the military to any cities after protests, sometimes marred by violence, over the killing of George Floyd.

The US President had said earlier that he might use military forces in states that fail to curb violent protests.
