"We have not been able to find anyone reasonably suspect," says Detective Inspector Henrik Hägglund at the Nyköpingspolice's department for serious crimes to Södermanland News.

Shortly after the fire, SVT Nyheter Sörmland wrote that the fire would be difficult to investigate.

"At present, the investigative situation looks bleak," said Lars Liewenborg, chief of the police department for serious crimes in Nyköping the week after the fire.

Although the police held interviews with staff and witnesses, the investigation did not proceed to the extent that they had a suspected offender and therefore the investigation is now closed down.
