The Ministry of the Interior has tried in the last hours to close the internal crisis in the Civil Guard solving the great pending issue: the departure of Colonel Pérez de los Cobos and the appointment of his successor. Thus, more than a week later, and despite trying to camouflage, in one of its versions, his dismissal in the framework of an extensive remodeling, until today it has not been known that the colonel will be replaced by a lieutenant colonel, David Blanes.

The Interior Ministry names this Lieutenant Colonel David Blanes González as the new head of the Civil Guard Command in Madrid.

Blanes has so far been the Head of the Tax and Airport Unit of the Madrid Command. He has worked, among other destinations, in the Alava Command, in the Security Unit of the House of SM El Rey and in the Technical Cabinet of the General Directorate of the Civil Guard.

The appointment has been made by the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez, at the proposal of the director general of the Civil Guard, María Gámez.

For his part, Colonel Diego Pérez de los Cobos has been assigned at his own request in a service commission at the Central Intervention of Arms and Explosives in Madrid, depending on the General of the Headquarters for Arms, Explosives and Security
