The countdown has officially started. Since Tuesday 6 p.m., the lists for the second round of the municipal elections have been completed. Bordeaux, Metz, Orléans ... and maybe even Lyon and Montélimar: less than a month from a second round that Les Républicains thought they had pushed back to Greek calendars, Covid-19 obliges, smiles are back ... because several cities can be won, at least on paper.

After a rather good first round for the right - victory in half of the cities with more than 9000 inhabitants - the painful page of the European elections is turned. "We are back in reconquest, we are still not going to refuse to be hit on," laughs even the party number, Aurélien Pradié, about the merger of the LR and LREM lists in Lyon and Bordeaux. In Lyon, the outgoing mayor La République en Marche Gérard Collomb , far behind in the first round, has given way to Senator Les Républicains François-Noël Buffet at the top of the list for the metropolis. In Bordeaux, the LREM candidate Thomas Cazenave formed a “coalition” with the outgoing mayor LR Nicolas Florian.

Alliances that the party boss, Christina Jacob, prefers to minimize…: no question of appearing as allies of the executive. " It absolutely does not engage our national policy, we are not at all in that context! ", He says.

The only shadow on the board for a right that takes on colors, the specter of a defeat in Marseille, the second city in France where the right has failed to rally to take up the torch from Jean-Claude Gaudin.
