The killing of a fox in an underground hunt in Hauts-de-France. - One Voice

  • A video posted by the animal protection association, One Voice, denounces the hunting of foxes and badgers.
  • The images show the method with which three little foxes are slaughtered at the exit of a burrow.
  • The asso requests the disappearance of this legal practice of hunting.

The video, posted online on Thursday, did not go unnoticed. We see a crew of underground hunting hunt foxes in a burrow to take out three young ones and massacre them with blows of bar. A legal hunting practice that the animal rights association, One Voice, would like to see disappear.

"The images were filmed in Hauts-de-France in April 2019," said One Voice, who said no more about the exact location "to preserve the safety of the investigators who infiltrated this group for months". This video follows a previous report on the hunt for badgers. A decade ago, the association had already filmed hunting practices from the inside for three years.

Completed with bars

Last year, One Voice therefore focused on hunting foxes and badgers, which consists of digging up animals and, very often, slaughtering them. The images show the methods of a group of hunters, accompanied by two children, 5 and 12 years old.

After locating a burrow and digging a trench, one of the individuals violently extracted a first fox with pliers. The animal is completed with bars by an adult after an aborted attempt by the adolescent, who is visibly learning.

"It is not representative"

Three foxes suffer the same fate. Some are dying before they die. The hunt lasted six hours. "We were waiting for the resumption of the badger hunt to publish these videos," explains Muriel Arnal, president of One Voice at 20 Minutes . She denounces "the terrifying manner in which these three foxes were put to death", and the fact that "the hunters do not even respect the regulations governing this practice".

Contacted by France 3, the president of the association of northern diggers, Patrick Coustenoble, also condemns: “They are amateurs and it is not representative of what is happening. The way they took out the animals and how they kill them is not clean (…) I understand that people are upset by what we see, especially with foxes. It is gratuitous violence. We are asked for ethics and that is what we do. But you can't control everything. "
