Kiruna police have for some time had indications of suspicion of buying sexual services in Kiruna. This has meant that the police have carried out both internal and external investigations that have enabled them to intervene in the crime. During Sunday night, two men were arrested on suspicion of violating the Sex Purchase Act.

"For a couple of years, the police have been working to educate the staff on being able to detect and intervene in sex trafficking," says Tobias Antila, who is on duty investigative leader.

One man is now suspected of attempting to purchase sexual service and another man to purchase sexual service and a preliminary investigation has been initiated.

The police conducted interrogations with the men and the woman who sold sex. The woman has also been offered support and assistance.

Tobias Antila says that the woman is from another country but that it is not possible at this stage to determine if it is a trafficking in human beings.
