Health emergency coordinator Fernando Simon said that the Spanish Ministry of Health is studying the possibility of allowing fans to return to action when the football season resumes later this month.

Simon explained that the regions that entered the third stage of easing the restrictions may allow the establishment of matches in the presence of fans, but this may be avoided in favor of sports justice among all teams.

He added that this issue was discussed on Tuesday in a hypothetical meeting with Health Minister Salvador Ea, Sports Minister Ireni Lozano and four league players, including Barcelona defender Gerard Pique and Atletico Madrid Koki player, and he explained that the players and the Ministry of Sports do not want the fans to return unless each team is allowed to receive fans .

The Primera Liga matches return on June 11, followed by a day's second division match. The Spanish League said all matches will be played without fans to avoid a second wave of the virus spread.

But second-class rival Las Palmas club began a discussion about the return of the fans, and its president, Miguel Angel Ramirez, said he hoped the fans would attend the first game of his team after returning against Girona.

Spain is one of the European countries hardest hit by the virus, and imposed strict isolation measures in March, but eased restrictions based on the disease’s development in each region.

It is expected that most of the provinces will move to the third stage starting from June 8, with the exception of the Madrid region, Barcelona province and some Castilla Leon provinces.

Earlier, the league's president, Javier Tipas, said the association plans to return the fans to the stands in the next season, which is supposed to start on September 12, provided that the green light is obtained from the health authorities.
