Final stretch in the campaign. Candidates for the second round of municipal elections on June 28 had until 6 p.m. Tuesday to submit their lists. It's done and we now see a little more clearly 25 days from the second round. Last March, outgoing mayor Anne Hidalgo (PS), candidate for her own succession came out on top with 29.3% of the vote, followed by candidate LR, Rachida Dati (22.7%) and candidate LREM Agnès Buzyn (17.3%).

In an unprecedented context where more than a hundred days separate the first and the second round of this poll shaken by the coronavirus crisis, the forces involved, strategies, promises and guarantees have been put to the test in recent hours, for the ultimate battle in the race for City Hall. After long negotiations, the joint Paris list of socialist mayor Anne Hidalgo and the Greens led by David Belliard - who came fourth in the first round with 10.8% of the vote - reached a coalition agreement on Monday night see you on Tuesday. A ticket for the final victory against the other candidates stuck in the status quo?

Dati, Villani, Buzyn, each his way, each his way

For a while, the negotiations and alliances by district between LREM and LR were finally buried, as was a global agreement between the two parties. With the exception of the 5th arrondissement, where an agreement was reached with Florence Berthout (ex-LR and candidate of Agnes Buzyn) who will ultimately be "various right candidate supporting the candidacy of Rachida Dati" in the second round.

In addition, Rachida Dati - who is holding a press conference this Wednesday to present her "new measures for Paris" - does not hesitate for a second to tackle her rival, Agnès Buzyn. “Agnès Buzyn does not return for Paris. She did not want to come back, she is coming back to be able to justify herself on her mismanagement of the Covid crisis, "she said on Monday at the microphone of Europe 1. It will therefore be each one's way, each his way, with Agnès Buzyn's goal: to save some furniture.

"From now on, the challenge is to maintain town halls and bring back elected officials to exist on the Paris council and bring to life our ideas, which are those of many Parisians", indicated his entourage solicited by 20 Minutes , the day of the announcement of its continuation. Long awaited, approached and solicited from both sides, the ex-LREM candidate Cédric Villani (7.9% of the votes in the first round) assured on his side Sunday that he would not form "no alliance" in the second turn, neither with Anne Hidalgo nor with Agnès Buzyn and that he stayed in the 14th arrondissement. The environmentalists and the socialists are ultimately the only ones to have found the precious agreement which could be synonymous with Anne Hidalgo's victory. The Greens welcome it.

"A beautiful agreement torn off not without difficulty"

As in 2014, the Parisian executive could therefore be led by a broad left coalition made up of socialists, greens, communists and elected officials affiliated with the Left Radical Party (PRG). Last January, when asked "There will never be an alliance with Anne Hidalgo again?" Asked by 20 Minutes to David Belliard, the latter replied: "The coalition is on the project. This will be done on the basis of the proposals for Paris, in particular on questions of town planning, green spaces. Do we want concrete or gardens? For me, there is no love, only proofs of love ”. On arrival, what is this proof of love?

Contacted by 20 Minutes , the entourage of David Belliard welcomes "a beautiful agreement torn off not without difficulty, after long hours of negotiations". The Greens obtained in this deal "a break with the urban planning policy carried out in recent years", the guarantees of having a "green" district town hall, the overhaul of the Bercy-Charenton project, green spaces, the removal of half of the surface parking spaces, the return of the Bièvre, the pedestrianization of the surroundings of the 300 most polluted schools, the removal of digital advertising, or even more green elected officials at the Paris Council (about 20 against 16 in 2014). And finally, a post of deputy mayor for David Belliard? "If he wishes, it is up to him to express it," said the mayor's campaign director, Emmanuel Grégoire. "For the moment, what matters is the project," reacts those around him.

In the late afternoon, just before 6 p.m., Anne Hidalgo and David Belliard and their teams, made a joint trip through the streets of the 9th arrondissement and shared a drink on the terrace to "formalize the agreement made".
