During the online summit of mayors of world cities “Together we stand. Cities against COVID-19. "Sobyanin spoke about the capital’s experience in combating coronavirus.

“Thanks to rather strict sanitary measures, we managed to delay the peak values of diseases for almost a month compared to many cities. This gave us a great opportunity to study the experience and problems, the challenges faced by European, Chinese, American cities, from Wuhan to New York, ”RIA Novosti quotes the mayor of the capital.

According to him, the largest hospital system in the world was formed in Moscow from almost 40 thousand permanent and temporary beds, and an ambulatory network of 40 centers was set up, equipped with modern equipment for the diagnosis of coronavirus.

In addition, a powerful testing system was organized in the city, which allows up to 58 thousand PCR tests and ELISA diagnostics to be performed during the day.

“As a result, the capacities that we created in Moscow were not used by 50%. There was a situation in which we passed the worst-case scenario, ”concluded Sobyanin.

Earlier, the deputy mayor of Moscow, Anastasia Rakova, said that the city managed to avoid the development of the situation with coronavirus according to the Italian scenario.

Sobyanin also noted that a “huge peak” in incidence and hospitalization due to COVID-19 was predicted in the capital, but a “terrible prognosis” did not come true.
