Monday afternoon, a violent quarrel broke out between two neighbors in a building in the district of La République, in Nice. A 52-year-old man reportedly attacked his 68-year-old neighbor. The latter died of his injuries on Tuesday at the hospital, said the public prosecutor of Nice Xavier Bonhomme.
Around 3:30 p.m. Monday, the 52-year-old descended to see his neighbor on the lower floor, a 68-year-old man armed with a knife. He hits him in the abdomen. The sexagenarian then turns the weapon against the attacker and injures him, in turn, around the neck, touching the carotid.
Open investigation into intentional homicide
Evacuated to Pasteur 2 hospital, the two injured are in serious condition. On Tuesday, the 68-year-old man died of his injuries.
At this point, the motives for this knife attack are still unclear. An investigation was opened against the 52-year-old assailant for intentional homicide.
