  The New Zealand International Education Promotion Agency (Education NZ) said that the New Coronary Pneumonia epidemic affects the world, and some international students are in trouble because of changes in their personal circumstances. Therefore, the government decided to set up a NZ$1 million hardship fund to help international students who have lost part-time income or are temporarily unable to obtain funds.

  The government welcomes relevant educational institutions and organizations to apply for funds up to 20,000 New Zealand dollars (excluding GST) to provide direct financial assistance or other support to eligible international students, including the provision of food or subsidies for living expenses.

  The fund will be open for application from May 21 until the allocation is completed.

  The International Education Promotion Bureau reminded that individual students cannot apply for this difficult fund. Therefore, if a student encounters difficulties, or knows that there are international students who are facing difficulties, please contact your school or student service agency to find out if they are applying for this fund .

  Students who receive this funding must meet the following conditions: currently a paying student, or a paying international student who has registered with a school before March 23; currently in New Zealand; currently facing difficulties; not meeting other government-funded application criteria .

  Self-financed Ph.D. students are eligible to receive the New Zealand Domestic Student Funds set up by the government. They should have priority in applying for funds under this aid project.

  Usually, the government will complete the application review process within five working days and notify the relevant educational institutions and organizations that submitted the application by mail.
