- We cannot meet children and young people in the same way today because of the corona, so this is a great way to reach the young people, says Thomas Svensson, social manager at Karlshamn municipality.
The idea for the chat function has been around for a couple of years, but the corona pendulum has been fast at work. The chat is for children, adolescents and parents.
- There is social concern in society among children and young people, if we start the chat function we meet them in their arena. We believe it will be much easier to get in touch at an early stage so that you can avoid future worries, says Thomas Svensson, social manager in Karlshamn.
The chat should be staffed by the municipality's own staff and the young people can turn to it with questions about, for example, love, friendship, abuse, violence and corona.
"It's good that people can turn to them if they need help or if they need to talk to someone," says 17-year-old Wilma Prytz, who, however, prefers to talk to her friends and family in the first place.
The exact start date for the chat is not fixed, but Social Manager Thomas Svensson points out that it should start as soon as possible.
