It is expected that on June 2 the Basmanny Court will consider the application of the UK to extend their detention until September 7.
In late January, the court arrested Igor Lyakhovets, Denis Konovalov, Roman Feofanov, Akbar Sergaliev and Maxim Umetbaev, who took part in the detention of Golunov. They are accused of abuse of authority, falsification of evidence and drug trafficking.
Konovalov later confessed and was transferred to house arrest.
Golunov was detained on June 6, 2019 in the center of Moscow. During the search, a package of drugs was found in his backpack. According to the journalist, they planted drugs on him.
Later, all charges in the case of an attempted sale of drugs were dropped from Golunov due to the lack of evidence of his participation in the commission of the crime.
