The French Tennis Federation (FFT) announced Monday that it had recommended to the State the resumption of all activities related to tennis and in particular group lessons, but not yet competitions, on the occasion of phase 2 of deconfinement which starts Tuesday.

"According to certain conditions related in particular to the green or orange zones, the practice of padel, beach tennis and the game of short palm, should be authorized as from June 2, as well as the resumption of group lessons or double (in tennis and paratennis) ", announced the FFT in a press release, specifying that the" previously established "sanitary measures were maintained.

"In the green zone, the practice of all disciplines should now be authorized outdoors and indoors. On the other hand, in the orange zone, only the practice outdoors or on sheltered grounds (provided that the four sides are fully open ) will be allowed. In addition, group lessons will now be possible for all disciplines. The number of students present on the field will vary depending on the discipline (6 maximum for tennis and 4 for padel and beach tennis) " , continues the text.

The resumption of these activities, under the conditions proposed by the FFT, remains subject to government approval.

Then, it will only remain to relaunch the competitions, a protocol currently under study at the FFT. "We are hopeful that the competition will resume in early July," said FFT president Bernard Giudicelli during a live internet broadcast with Gaël Monfils.

Tennis had been one of the first sports, with golf, to revive amateur practice in France from the start of the first phase of deconfinement on May 11. The leader said that "65% of clubs had reopened" since that date.
