When a patient treated for covid-19 is discharged from intensive care, representatives from several departments meet in a so-called multidisciplinary conference. It determines which department the patient should be enrolled in based on which care is most urgent. If the patient is in Umeå but is a resident of Skellefteå or Lycksele then the patient's home hospital is also included on the link during the meeting.

- Anyone who has been at IVA for the longest time has been here for 7 weeks. It's a long time. It is very different what care needs patients have when they leave the department, says Ritva Kiski Berggren.
