Patrick Malvaës, president of the national union of discotheques and places of leisure, sounded the alarm on Monday evening on Europe 1. "We do not know if the reopening will be during the music festival or later. , the sector lives it very badly, "he alerted.

INTERVIEW

While bars and restaurants will reopen on Tuesday, nightclubs remain closed until further notice. Patrick Malvaës, president of the national union of nightclubs and places of leisure, drew up a grim observation of the prospects of night establishments on Monday evening in the eco interview on Europe 1.

"This crisis is dramatic for the sector, we do not even have a prospect. The Prime Minister reopened restaurants and cafes, but the nightclubs were fired at the end of June. We do not know if the recovery will be at the music festival or later. In the meantime, the sector is experiencing it very badly, "alerted Patrick Malvaës.

"The sector was already in crisis"

The coronavirus pandemic has, in fact, exacerbated the crisis in discos, many of which have closed in recent years. "It is dark night literally and figuratively. The sector has already been in crisis for years. There are 1,600 establishments in France, if you count cabarets and bars with a musical atmosphere there are twice as many", a esteemed Patrick Malvaës.

Another major difficulty for the sector: compliance with health measures which seem, a priori, very difficult to enforce in these establishments. "These are confined and meeting places, which the Covid prohibits. We tell ourselves that we will be the last to reopen. This lack of visibility is a big problem. And if we reopen, we wonder under what conditions we can do it ", underlines the president of the national union of discotheques and places of leisure.

"A masked clientele is not possible every night"

"A masked clientele is not possible every evening, we cannot have a masked evening every day. We will find ourselves in places with four times less people, with no atmosphere. We wonder if it will be worth it blow to reopen, "he said.

"For the deputies, we are not a priority. We represent a billion euros, which is a trifle among the sums at stake. We are currently looking at what we can put in place, but it is worth better to go slowly and serenely rather than making protocols too fast and unenforceable ", concluded Patrick Malvaës.
