Iraqi Health announced today 429 new cases of coronavirus, bringing to 6868 the total number of people infected, which represents a record high for cases on a daily basis since the outbreak began in the country.

The ministry indicated - in a statement on its Facebook page - that 10 deaths were registered for Corona virus for the third consecutive day, bringing the total number of deaths to 215.

She added that 119 cases of cure were recorded from the virus, bringing the total number of people recovering to 3,275.

The capital remained at the forefront of the number of injuries, with 172 injuries out of 429, and topped the list of deaths, with 7 cases out of 10.

A second wave, for
his part, MP Faleh Al-Ziyadi, spokesperson for the Parliamentary Crisis Cell, warned that Iraq will face a second wave of Corona virus, due to the lack of commitment of citizens to the comprehensive prohibition measures and the failure to apply the rules of social divergence, and to proceed with the establishment of special events and gatherings and the increase in movement in the markets.

"The citizens' failure to adhere to the preventive measures and instructions of the crisis cell reflected negatively and helped the outbreak to become more and more widespread," Al-Ziyadi said in press statements.

For his part, Minister of Health and Environment Hassan Al-Tamimi stressed that the comprehensive ban that entered its second day will be aggravated and will be accompanied by double efforts for the field epidemiological examination and awareness campaigns.

The minister described the Corona crisis as "an existential war between the risk of spreading the virus and citizen awareness."

Since Sunday, the security forces began setting up roadblocks in Baghdad to implement a 24-hour curfew to contain the recent increase in the number of cases of coronavirus infection.
