The StopCovid tracking application, intended to track the spread of the coronavirus, should finally be available from Tuesday, June 2 at noon, announced Sunday the Secretary of State for Digital, Cédric O.

"Tuesday noon, the French and the French will (...) find the application and download it" on their phones, and not this weekend as he indicated last week, said the secretary of Status on Radio J.

"We are currently pushing the application on the stores (app stores) of Apple and Google" but "there is a review time," he said.

The purpose of this application is to allow each user who learns about his contamination to warn those he has encountered in the previous two weeks, so that they can take their precautions.

"We need as many people as possible" and "what we are targeting first are the people who live in cities because they are the ones who spread the virus," said Cédric O.

He cited in particular people "who take public transport, people who go to restaurants or who go to supermarkets at peak times".

However, he refused to give a target downloads, while the application raises reservations, especially in terms of respect for freedoms.

"From the first downloads, the application avoids contamination," defended Cédric O, citing epidemiological studies.

He also said that StopCovid will be "almost a new barrier gesture", with hand washing or sneezing in his elbow and called on communities to promote the application, as they do for gestures. barriers.

The secretary of state also said that so far the application had cost the government nothing, except the salary of public officials who participated in its development, because the companies that worked on StopCovid did it for free.

"From today, we will enter a slightly more normal period. We must maintain the application, host it", but "the cost will not exceed more than a few hundred thousand euros per month ", he added.
