Pedro Sánchez has announced to the regional presidents with whom he meets this Sunday at the Conference of Presidents that on Wednesday he will ask Congress for the sixth and last extension of the state of alarm, which will allow the de-escalation to run until June 21.

As he explained, according to sources at the meeting, it will be that June 21, if the forecasts are met, when what he calls "the new normal" begins. The chief executive has stated in his initial speech that experts recommend limiting mobility for two more weeks and that in the meantime "caution prevails."

Sánchez has explained to them that the peculiarity of this extension will be that it will be "absolutely governed" by the Autonomous Communities: "You will be the delegated authorities as the highest representatives of the State," he told them. This will occur as each region or community moves on to Phase 3.

In the last seven days, as he has also explained, there have been 230 new infections and 43 deaths, the best data since before the alarm state was activated, on March 14.
