When hundreds of people in Flint Township, Michigan gathered to demonstrate on Sunday, they were met by local police chief Chris Swanson, who took off equipment and put down weapons. After a brief speech, in which Swanson explained that the local police were on the same side as the protesters, the police chief marched with the others in the protest movement.
In the video, police chief Chris Swanson is seen clapping protesters and declaring he is on their side.
- We want to be with you for real, so I took off my helmet and put down the baton. I want to make this a parade, not a protest, said Chris Swanson.
