May 31, 2020 Greece also opens to tourism from Italy but in three phases, until July 1, with particular precautions for flights arriving from Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto and Emilia Romagna.

The new regulation, after the controversy raised by the initial decision not to accept direct flights from Italian airports throughout the month of June, foresees three phases: the first, until June 15, allows international flights but only on Athens airport. All visitors on arrival will be tested and will have to spend the night in a designated hotel. If the test is negative, the passenger will self-quarantine for seven days. If the test is positive, the passenger is placed under quarantine for 14 days, according to the website of the Greek embassy in Italy.

Phase two, from June 15 to June 30, involves international flights to Athens and Thessaloniki. If the journey was made from an airport not on the list of affected areas reported by EASA, passengers are subject to random tests only on arrival. At the moment, all airports in Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto and Emilia Romagna are included in the list of EASA. Passengers arriving from these regions will be tested. One night stay in a designated hotel is required. If the test is negative, the passenger will self-quarantine for seven days. If the test is positive, the passenger is placed under quarantine for 14 days.

In phase 3, from 1st July onwards, international flights are allowed at all Greek airports. Visitors are subject to random tests on arrival. Further restrictions for some countries will be announced later.

Arrivals by sea will be allowed from July 1st. Visitors will be subjected to random tests on arrival.
