May 31, 2020 Six million positive Covid-19 cases worldwide have been overcome. According to Johns Hopkins University's updated coronavirus pandemic, the number of confirmed cases stands at 6,063,588 while the death toll has risen to 369,244. In the USA there are 1,770,384 cases (103,781 deaths), in Brazil 498,440 cases (28,834 deaths) and in Russia 396,575 cases (4,555 deaths). In the United Kingdom, where there are 274,219 confirmed cases, the death toll stands at 38,458.

Latin America, 975,000 infections and 50,100 deaths
With a record increase of 52,000 infected in just 24 hours, a week ended which confirmed an acceleration of the pandemic in Latin America, with 975,406 confirmed cases and 50,110 deaths. This is what emerges from a statistic elaborated by the ANSA agency on the basis of data concerning 34 Latin American countries and territories. 
The situation in Brazil is still alarming, which alone recorded over 60% of the day's infections (33,000) bringing the overall total to almost half a million (498,440), with 28,834 deaths (+1,000) becoming the fourth country in the world for number of coronavirus-related deaths.

Peru (155,671 and 4,371) and Chile (94,858 and 997) follow. Among the countries with more than 5,000 cases, Mexico was reported fourth for infections (84,627) but second for fatal victims (9,415), ahead of Ecuador (38,571 and 3,334) which did not provide data yesterday, Colombia (28,236 and 890), Republic Dominican (16,908 and 498), Argentina (15,419 and 524), Panama (12,531 and 326) and Bolivia (8,731 and 300).
