- In the beginning, many people wanted to do a lot, says Erika Wilhelmsson, who started the Corona help in mid-March. Then it was easy to find volunteers and maybe some of the news pleasures.

But as time went on, some people have fallen and fallen away. Today, however, there is a steady group of volunteers who can help to shop, pick up medicine and take on practical assignments.

Tough assignment that takes time

Worse is it with people who can organize the work and also staff the support phone.

- Several of those who have helped have become ill or gone to the wall. This is a task that can be tough and takes a lot of time.

Many who call and want to talk to someone because they feel lonely or worried often want to talk to the same person. Often people want to talk for a long time.

Must be at hand

But it also takes time to convey practical assignments.

- Anyone who receives a call about food handling, for example, must find a volunteer who can consider taking action. Then it has to be at hand until the assignment is completed and make sure everything goes as it is intended.

Long-term work

Erika works full time as a midwife and has an understanding that it is difficult to take on volunteer work beyond that. At the same time, assignments are steadily increasing and the need for Corona assistance is still great. It makes Erika go on and on.

- When the people who have set up earlier jump off, then we have to find new ones who can handle. This is not going to end soon, it's a long-term job.
