Burkina Faso: deadly terrorist attack on a Kompiembiga market

In Burkina Faso, armed men opened fire on traders and customers of the Kompiembiga livestock market, 15 kilometers from the city of Pama on the Fada / Pama axis in the east of the country, Saturday, May 30. At least 25 civilians were killed in the attack, which is attributed to armed terrorist groups, according to the regional governor.

According to one resident, the market targeted by the attack was infiltrated by armed men and others roamed around with their motorcycles. Rather, people thought they were dealing with the defense and security forces on patrol missions, explains this resident. When people knew it was not soldiers, there was panic and that is how the killing started,  " he said.

Several people were killed. “  It was panic and stampede. They even chased some people,  "said the source. According to the governor of the region, it was a group of terrorists who perpetrated this attack. There were about ten motorcycles each carrying two people, reports another source. From their motorbikes, they fired guns at the market at the market  , with weapons of war ," he said.

We buried 37 bodies in the evening of Saturday when the terrorists left,  " said a resident. According to our interlocutor, searches are still continuing to try to find certain people who are still missing.
