Anne Hidalgo, guest on Sunday of the program "En balade avec" by Frédéric Taddeï, returned to municipal studies and the coronavirus crisis. According to the mayor of Paris, "if we had wanted to write a series on what has happened in recent months, (…) the script would have been relocated for lack of realism".

INTERVIEW

The 2020 municipal elections will remain one of the most atypical elections in the history of the Fifth Republic, due to the postponement of the second round, three months after the first, because of the coronavirus pandemic. Anne Hidalgo returned to this strange period on Sunday in the program En balade avec on Europe 1.

"If we had wanted to write a TV series based on what has happened in recent months, no one would have believed us. And no doubt that the script would have been revoked for lack of realism," said the outgoing mayor of Paris. The PS candidate is well placed to be re-elected in the second round, which will take place on June 28. "An election is never played," warned Anne Hidalgo all the same.

The Olympics, "an employment opportunity for many fellow citizens"

The mayor of Paris also mentioned the 2024 Olympics, when questions arise about their funding due to the pandemic. "It's a chance so obviously we stay in what we wanted, namely sober Games and which also transform the Seine Saint-Denis," said Anne Hidalgo.

"I fought with the elected officials of Seine-Saint-Denis so that the main impact of the Games would be felt in Seine-Saint-Denis. With the economic crisis that we are going to face, the Games will also be an opportunity to jobs for many of our fellow citizens. We are going to fight to make it useful ", hoped the PS candidate.
