The two right-wing candidates in Marseille sketched a rapprochement on Saturday for the second round of the municipal elections, the candidate invested by LR Martine Vassal particularly supporting the dissident Bruno Gilles in his sector. During a press conference, Martine Vassal, president of the metropolis and the department of Bouches-du-Rhône, second in the whole city after the first round, called again Senator Bruno Gilles , also from the right-wing majority, "à la raison". "The hour is serious," said Martine Vassal, while the filing of the lists will be closed on Tuesday.

In the 4th and 5th arrondissements, "I call to vote Bruno Gilles because he is in great danger in front of the Printemps marseillais and in front of Madame Rubirola", who presents himself in the same sector, announced in particular Martine Vassal at the hurry. Head of the list and outgoing mayor of these districts, Bruno Gilles was largely outdistanced in the first round, with 22.1% of the votes, by Michèle Rubirola (37.4%). The candidate of Martine Vassal had collected 9.7% of the votes there.

"Take note"

In a press release, Bruno Gilles said he took "note of the return to reason of Martine Vassal and (of the president of the Paca region) Renaud Muselier", who participated in the press conference of Martine Vassal. Martine Vassal also announced that she had obtained the support of Ludovic Perney, the candidate presented by Bruno Gilles in the 6th and 8th arrondissements, a sector where she appeared in the lead in the second round with less than three points ahead of the Printemps marseillais - a rallying of which Bruno Gilles also said "take note", while regretting not having been warned by Ludovic Perney.

In other sectors, notably the 2nd and 3rd, where their lists are neck and neck, Martine Vassal and Bruno Gilles are "in talks during this long weekend", also assured the president of the department, Bruno Gilles evoking for his part the "possible withdrawal of Solange Biaggi (note: candidate of Martine Vassal)" for the benefit of her candidate in the 2nd and 3rd arrondissements. In the city center, the sector of the 1st-7th arrondissements, where his list came only sixth, Bruno Gilles called for "to block the list led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon's substitute, Sophie Camard", leading in front of the candidate of Martine Vassal.
