Between them, they represented almost 60% of the votes cast during the first round of municipal elections in Rennes. This Saturday, the outgoing mayor Nathalie Appéré (PS) announced the merger of her list with that of the ecologist Matthieu Theurier, whom she had anticipated on March 15. "We are happy to be the first to announce that the left is beautiful when it is united," launched Nathalie Appéré, during a press conference in a Rennes park.

This merger of lists made Nathalie Appéré the favorite in the second round of municipal elections, on June 28. To his 32.81% of the votes, add 25.59% of the candidate EELV. "We said we would seek a union of the left and environmentalists in the second round regardless of the configuration," said Matthieu Theurier, who had already made an alliance with Nathalie Appéré in 2014.

“Our discussions were quick and went well. We feel like we are entering a new era in the city's political history, ”added the elected ecologist. The two candidates listed a series of programmatic agreements: "massive" investment in transport, experimentation with the guaranteed minimum income, thermal renovation of housing, 50% organic in collective catering, etc.

Points of disagreement have also been noted on urban planning policy, ecologists having criticized "the frantic pace" of construction of new buildings or large towers. "We found the means to go beyond that," explained Nathalie Appéré. “What motivated us was to be up to the moment. "
