Bremen, the historic Bundesliga club, still believes in a miraculous continuation after their 1-0 victory at Schalke on Saturday, while Bayern can take another step towards the title by receiving relegation Düsseldorf at 6.30 p.m.

The historic bastion of German football, Werder Bremen, which has spent 56 seasons in D1 and only one in D2 since the creation of the professional championship in 1963, still has a foot in the grave.

The club is in 17th and penultimate position, but returns to two points from the potential barrage specialist Düsseldorf, who will have to hope for a miracle to bring back a point from Munich. And Bremen is also one game behind.

The last outings of the club in northern Germany, since the post-coronavirus recovery, have awakened the hope of a rescue in extremis: the Werder has just taken seven points in three matches. Florian Kohfeldt, the 37-year-old coach, still enjoys the confidence of his players and managers.

At Schalke, still behind closed doors (coronavirus obliges), Bremen was jostled in the second half, but held on, with the hint of luck that characterizes the teams in confidence. Leonardo Bittencourt scored the only goal of the game in the 32 minute.

"After the break they pressed us, it was a hard fight, but it is a victory that we deserved and, in our situation, we know how precious these three points are," said Kohfeldt, "we have Wednesday a late game to play (at home against Frankfurt) and we can take a big step forward.

Schalke on the other hand is in free fall. Eleven consecutive games without a win, and since the resumption in mid-May, four defeats in four games, with ten goals conceded for a single scored!

Fortunately, the Ruhr team, Dortmund's historic rival (30 km between the two stadiums) had a good start to the season. The "Bleu Roi" are still 10th with ten points ahead of the first relegation.

Five days from the end, they risk almost nothing, except to end the season in a place unworthy of the ambitions of their leaders, who ultimately aim to rise to the level of Borussia Dortmund to settle permanently in the top teams.

In the other 3:30 p.m. matches, Frankfurt made a big step towards maintaining by winning 2-1 at Wolfsburg. The team of the European financial capital, which was still playing at the start of the year in the Europa League, found itself in bad shape this season. These three points allow him to stay five steps ahead of Düsseldorf, the first relegation.

Hertha Berlin won 2-0 at home against Augsburg, and Hoffenheim went 1-0 to Mainz.

At 6:30 p.m., Bayern can tentatively take a 10-point lead over its runner-up Dortmund, who plays Sunday against the red Paderborn lantern.
