After the agreement between the macronist Gérard Collomb and the right in Lyon in the French municipal elections, in Perpignan in the south of France, a republican front was set up to counter the favorite, the candidate of the National Rally.
Publicity
Read moreWith less than a month to go before the second round of municipal elections in France , major maneuvers are on the increase. Perpignan, a city of 120,000 inhabitants almost within reach of the National Rally (RN), is one of the targets of Marine Le Pen . Candidate in this city in the south of France, Louis Aliot came out on top on March 15 with more than 35% of the vote.
But the prospect of a victory moves away for the RN candidate. Indeed, all of its competitors have joined forces to form a Republican front . Last event to date, the ecologist Agnès Langevine withdrew. After hesitating, the candidate, arriving 3rd in the first round, announced this Saturday, May 30, her withdrawal in favor of Jean-Marc Pujol, the outgoing mayor Les Républicains.
A big delay to catch up
Thursday, May 28, it was the candidate La République en Marche Romain Grau who had chosen to throw in the towel to block the party of Marine Le Pen. Now the RN's only opponent, the outgoing mayor will therefore replay the 2014 duel. But this time he will have to make up a big delay of at least 17 points to hope to win.
Faced with what he denounces as a “ swindle ”, Louis Aliot can count on the astonishing support of an ex-rival, because one of the running mats of the candidate LREM refused to follow his camp. Josianne Cabanas has turned around and is now calling to vote for the National Rally.
