In the United States, mass protests continue, caused by the death of African-American George Floyd after being detained by police in Minnesota.

According to the Associated Press, unrest accompanied by acts of vandalism, covered, in addition to Minneapolis, New York, Atlanta, Albuquerque, San Jose, Houston, Phoenix and Denver.

According to CNN, shares are held in at least 30 cities in the United States. 

In particular, AP citing sources said the Pentagon ordered the army to alert military police units for deployment in Minneapolis, where street rallies have not subsided for several days. According to the agency, the order came after US President Donald Trump asked Secretary of Defense Mark Esper to present options for resolving the situation in the city. 

Prior to this, the Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, announced the introduction of curfew in the city from Friday evening. This was reported by city authorities on Twitter. It is noted that the decision was made after three days of mass protests, robberies and arson.

The mode is valid from 20:00 local time to 6:00 in all public places and on the streets. Emergency crews, rescue and other emergency services, the media, as well as homeless people and those “forced to flee from danger” were exempted from curfews.

It is worth noting that earlier in the city an emergency mode was declared, and it was also decided to send more than 500 fighters of the US National Guard there. At the same time, the question of introducing another 1,700 troops is being considered, the National Guard of Minnesota reported.

According to the channel, the police of Minneapolis on May 30 arrested more than 50 protesters, and about 200 more protesters were detained in Texas.

In addition, during a live broadcast, the journalist of the TV channel Omar Jimenez and his team were detained, covering the demonstrations. The reporter and film crew were later released, and CNN received an apology from the Governor of Minnesota for this incident.

Protests in Minneapolis have been going on for several days. During this time, at least one person died, dozens of stores were looted or burned.

On Friday night, protesters surrounded a police station. Law enforcers tried to disperse the crowd with stun grenades and tear gas, but protesters were able to break through to the building and set fire to it. After that, it became known that the protesters managed to set fire to the Wells Fargo Bank building, which is located near the police station.

In turn, the governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, also announced the introduction of an emergency regime in Atlanta. The governor specified in his Twitter that the measure will allow involving up to 500 fighters of the National Guard "to protect people and property."

In Atlanta, peaceful protests lasted several hours, and then protesters began smashing police cars and throwing stones and bottles at police officers.

During the protests in the city of Auckland, California, an employee of the Federal Security Service of the US Department of Homeland Security died. According to CNN, two officers received gunshot wounds on Saturday night, as a result of which one of them died. The second is in the hospital.

NBC News reported that due to mass protests, the Secret Service blocked access to the White House. The cordon was established at about an hour when the situation in Washington became troubled. As a result, two people were detained who threw water bottles at the police and Secret Service. 

Recall that the riots began after May 25, 46-year-old local resident George Floyd, who was detained by police officers, died in a hospital.

A video was distributed on the network in which one of the law enforcement officers pressed Floyd's neck with his knee when he was already lying on the ground. The man repeatedly complained that he had nothing to breathe, after which he lost consciousness. After the video from social networks received wide publicity, the city authorities announced the dismissal of four police officers.

The Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on what is happening in the United States, called on the American side to thoroughly investigate the murder of George Floyd. The department emphasized that during the arrest the man "was strangled in front of many passers-by", and the video recording of the incident "clearly indicates that we are talking about a brutal murder."

The Foreign Ministry indicated that from year to year Washington refuses to expand its international legal obligations in the humanitarian sphere, still does not participate in most major international human rights treaties, and continues to ignore the recommendations of human rights organizations.

“We urge the American authorities to take real and effective measures to rectify the situation, return to the conscientious fulfillment of international obligations, and bring national legislation into line with the basic UN principles on the use of force and firearms by law enforcement agencies. And, of course, to thoroughly investigate the murder of George Floyd, ”the agency’s website said in a statement.
