• Coronavirus, the Pope to the Roman priests: "We lived the cry of God, you did not run away"

"Under your protection we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not despise the pleas of us who are in trial, and free us from all dangers": thus Pope Francis began the Rosary prayer in the Vatican Gardens to ask for an end to the pandemic.

Francis presides over the recitation of the Holy Rosary in the Grotto of Lourdes. Upon his arrival he laid a bouquet of flowers at the foot of the Madonna. The Marian celebration is promoted by the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, on the theme: "Assiduous and agree in prayer, together with Mary (Acts 1:14)".

United to Pope Francis, in this moment of prayer, broadcast worldwide on the eve of Pentecost Sunday, the Marian shrines of the world.

The dozens are recited by some women and men representing various categories of people particularly affected by the health emergency caused by Covid-19. Present a doctor and a nurse, for all the health personnel engaged on the front lines in hospitals; a healed person and one who has lost a family member, for all those who have been personally touched by the coronavirus; a priest, hospital chaplain, and a nun nurse, for all the priests and consecrated persons close to those who are suffering from the disease; a pharmacist and a journalist, for all the people who continued to perform their service for others even during the pandemic period; a Civil Protection volunteer with his family, for those who have worked to cope with this emergency and for the whole vast world of volunteering; and a young family, to which Jacopo was born, just in this period.

"O Mary, you always shine on our way as a sign of salvation and hope. We - the Pontiff said - we entrust you, the health of the sick, who at the Cross have been associated with the pain of Jesus, keeping your firm You salvation of the Roman people know what we need and we are sure that you will ensure that as in Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration can return after this moment of trial. Help us Mother of Divine Love to conform to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus will tell us who took our sufferings on himself and took on our pains to lead us through the Cross to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen ".
