May 30, 2020 7 million Italians are free to choose the month of June to go on vacation which this year will be almost entirely Made in Italy, also due to the constraints placed at the borders by many traditional destinations such as Greece. This is what emerges from an analysis by Coldiretti with reference to the freedom of trespassing between regions starting from June 3, which is destined to have a significant economic and employment impact on tourism hard hit by the coronavirus emergency.

If the foreign presence in Italy still represents a heavy unknown, hope is in fact placed on 40% of Italians who preferred travel abroad and who this year could decide, by force or conviction, to stay in the Belpaese according to ENIT.

The economic impact between March, April and May was dramatic with the elimination of tourist spending in the quarter and a loss estimated by Coldiretti at almost 20 billion euros for accommodation, catering, transport and shopping.

The tourist restart of the restaurant has an avalanche effect on the industrial and agricultural production system, Made in Italy, from wine to beer, from meat to fish, from fruit to vegetables but also on high quality salami and cheeses that find in consumption outside the home a important outlet market.

Food has become the real added value of the Made in Italy holiday with Italy which is the undisputed world leader in food and wine tourism thanks to the primacy of the greenest agriculture in Europe with 299 PDO / PGI specialties recognized at Community level and 415 DOC wines. / Docg, 5155 traditional regional products surveyed along the Peninsula, the leadership in the organic sector with over 60 thousand organic farms and the primacy of world food security.

Without forgetting the more than 24 thousand Italian agritourism companies that traditionally represent a privileged destination for holidays in June and that, often located in isolated areas of the countryside in family structures with a limited number of beds and at the table and with large open spaces, are perhaps the places where it is easier to guarantee compliance with the security measures to defend against contagion outside the home and with the arrival of the summer, supporting tourism in the countryside means avoiding the dangerous risk of crowding at the sea or in the cities.
