Members of the Libyan parliament in Tobruk issued a statement calling for the rejection of discord and division, while Al-Wefaq forces continued their progress in southern Tripoli and announced the finding of a mass grave in an area from which Haftar soldiers withdrew.

Members of the Tobruk Parliament called for preserving the social fabric and cohesion among the people of the homeland, and urged all Libyans and all political parties to preserve the national principles.

The signatories called on the Libyans to inject the blood of the Libyans, and that this should be considered a top priority that everyone should strive to achieve.

The statement called for taking all necessary measures to do so, from a cease-fire, disengagement and commitment to a return to dialogue.

He also urged the urgent return to dialogue to form a new executive authority based on "the structure of a presidential council composed of a president, two deputies, a prime minister, and a government of national unity."

The statement stressed that the weapon must be in the hands of state institutions alone, and it cannot be used to impose a fait accompli.

Field developments

In the field, Al-Wefaq government forces said on Saturday that they had made great progress in the vicinity of the Tripoli airport and the Ramla axis south of the capital.

The media center for the "Barkan Rage" operation of the Al-Wefaq government stated that the Mahjoub brigade's forces were "advancing strongly in the Ramla axis and the vicinity of Tripoli airport," adding that these forces took control of two armed cars and destroyed another six.

On Friday, Al-Wefaq government forces announced that they were chasing the gunmen of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter in the vicinity of Tripoli Airport, and that they were able to control important concentrations, without giving any details.

During the past few days, Al-Wefaq forces succeeded in controlling combat hubs and strategic camps south of Tripoli, most notably the Hamza and Yarmouk camps.

This progress comes a few weeks after the Al-Wefaq forces took control of all the cities of the West Coast and reached the border with Tunisia, in addition to the strategic "Al-Wataya" base, all of which were under the control of Haftar's forces.

With the support of Russia, Arab and European countries, Haftar's forces have launched a faltering offensive since April 4, 2019, to take control of Tripoli, the seat of the internationally recognized government, killing and injuring civilians, along with extensive material damage.

Mass grave

In a related context, the Ministry of Interior in the Al-Wefaq government announced that it had found on Saturday a mass grave in an area south of Tripoli, after its recovery from the forces of Khalifa Haftar.

The Ministry of the Interior said in a statement that the discovery of the cemetery came after a report was received to the Sa`diyya police station in the Directorate of Security of al-Jaffar, from the Red Crescent department in Zintan, about the existence of a mass grave in the Sa`diyya area near the Zaytouni Mosque.

She explained that the criminal investigation patrols were assigned with the Public Prosecution Office and the Red Crescent to move to the place, and the cemetery was found and four fully decomposed bodies of one man, woman and two children were removed.

The ministry indicated that the bodies were identified, and they are the successor of Muhammad al-Rakhiri, his wife and two daughters who have been reported missing since last October. The statement stated that the family was kidnapped by a criminal gang, without further explanation.
