Restrictions on travel to Philippines Manila, etc. to ease next month New Corona May 29, 7:17

The Philippine government has announced that it will relax the movement restrictions that are being implemented in the capital Manila and surrounding states in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus from next month.

In the Philippines, movement restrictions that do not allow people to go out in principle have started in various places around the northern part of Luzon Island from March 17, and currently restrictions are in place in the capital Manila and 6 provinces and 2 cities.

Against this backdrop, Philippine President Duterte spoke on television on the 28th, announcing that restrictions on the capital Manila and the six surrounding states will be relaxed starting next month.

Specifically, of the public transportation systems that have stopped operating altogether, the railways and buses will resume operation after limiting the occupancy rate to 50% or less.

Also, the relaxation of restrictions on going out differs depending on the age group, and restrictions continue to exist for people under the age of 20 and those over the age of 60, but people of other ages will be allowed to go out freely.

Until now, manufacturing industries and service industries, excluding daily necessities, had to operate with half the normal number of employees, but now most industries will be allowed to operate under the normal system.

Meanwhile, President Duterte did not say why the restrictions would be relaxed at this time.

In the Philippines, the rate of increase in the number of infected people has not changed even after movement restrictions, and there have been 15,588 cases of infection confirmed so far, and there are concerns from experts.
