The salaries of Peruvian President Martin Vizcara, his ministers and senior officials will be reduced to help relatives of health workers who have died from the newly infected Corona virus, which causes Covid-19, according to a decree issued Thursday.

The rate of reduction that will last for three months will be: 15% for salaries that start from 20,000 soul (about $ 5,820), and 10% for salaries starting from 15,000 sul (approximately $ 4362).

Peru has recorded more than 141,000 cases of Covid-19 and more than 4,000 deaths, according to WorldMeters, making it the second country in Latin America with the largest number of infections with Corona virus after Brazil.

Peru responded strongly to Covid-19, but the restrictions did not prevent the virus from spreading among poor people who live in crowded areas and are still forced out to earn a living.
