Rachida Dati assured L'Express on Friday that there was "no merger" with the LREM list in the 5th arrondissement for the second round of municipal elections scheduled for June 28. "There is no merger" with the list of the outgoing mayor of the district, Florence Berthout, from LR ranks but joined for these municipal to LREM, said without further details the head of LR list, contradicting speculations on a future alliance that concordant sources said in preparation.

Parisians "want a profound change in Paris" and "this confinement has accentuated this desire for change," added Rachida Dati, who came second on March 15 behind socialist mayor Anne Hidalgo. She vilified "the hesitations and the moods" of her rival LREM Agnès Buzyn (third place finish), who "are not a project for Paris and do not interest Parisians".

The mayor of the 7th also criticized Anne Hidalgo, calling her "the mayor of concrete". "I want spaces of breathing and soothing for Parisians," she said. "The dynamics are for our team and our project," added Rachida Dati, taking up her campaign themes on cleanliness, the fight against crime and keeping families in Paris. But "any abstention or dispersion of votes will promote immobility and even the decline of Paris," she warned.
