Prime Minister Edouard Philippe detailed phase 2 of the deconfinement yesterday, starting on June 2. For Virginie Phulpin, professional sport and its public are somewhat punished in history, for the moment anyway.

I have the impression that we are reopening everything except the stadiums. And I have a little trouble understanding the logic. Until then, I found that French decisions on professional sport were perfectly suited to the health crisis. Yes, it was necessary to stop the championships and not make the resumption of football or rugby for example a national cause that would come before the other sectors. For me, we were right not to try to resume by forced march as we have seen in other European countries. Yes, the priority is health. But there, yesterday, the Prime Minister announced the reopening of cinemas on June 22, theaters from June 2 in the green zone and June 22 in the orange zone. And on the stadiums, nothing. However, as we have already talked about this week, bringing in a limited number of supporters would be possible. If we can go to the movies, why not in a stadium? It's open air, too. So you're going to tell me "there are no matches anyway, so there is no point in asking the question". Yes except that for football there are finals which can still be played, French Cup and League Cup. No date has been set yet. And since the government has registered the resumption of training for June 2, I do not see why we would not play these finals. If you train, you might as well play afterwards. In fact, I don't think that resuming pro sport should be a priority, that's for sure. But we shouldn't make the stuffing turkey either.

Should we resume the football and rugby championships?

It seems complicated. The Prime Minister also said yesterday that he fully assumed the final cessation of the Ligue 1 season. I am not turning my jacket over and saying that you have to start at all costs, I can assure you . I think that France was right to be firm at the start, but that everything is now a question of adapting to the health situation which has largely changed. Pragmatism, what. If we resume all leisure activities, why not also consider a resumption of pro sport? In fact, it would be doing the exact opposite of what we see in England, where the resumption of the football championship was announced yesterday for June 17 while the health indicators are red. We have waited until these indicators are green. Now, we can perhaps ask ourselves the question of a possible recovery. In any case, now, we can and we should consider the return of part of the public, whether on the roads of the Tour de France in August or at Roland Garros in late September.
