  • Lille bars and restaurants will be able to reopen on Tuesday.
  • The city will grant exemptions and extensions of terraces.
  • Parks, gardens, museums and other services will also be open on June 2.

Wouldn't we make a small terrace? On Thursday evening, the Prime Minister presented phase 2 of the government's deconfinement plan. A press conference during which we finally learned that Hauts-de-France has gone green. A color synonymous with possible reopening of places of conviviality from next Tuesday. Friday, the mayor of Lille outlined the measures that will be taken to support the deconfinement of cafes and restaurants.

If the date of resumption of activity in cafes and restaurants is now known, the final health protocol must still be refined by the government and organizations representative of these trades. However, the main lines are already drawn and some bosses have started to test their devices, especially with regard to the terraces. It is also on this point that the town hall of Lille intends to let go of the ballast. "To respect the distance, we will try to maintain the capacities of the terraces by allowing their extension," summarizes Jacques Richir, deputy mayor. Extensions and sometimes even creations but not everywhere, nor for everyone.

Terraces extensions respecting the rules

“Because there are rules to respect, especially for the passage of people with reduced mobility on the sidewalks, this will not be possible everywhere. We are also not going to grant extensions to establishments which have caused problems, ”specifies Martie Aubry, mayor of Lille. For these reasons, or because of the veto of the Bâtiments de France, rue Massena and the places Mendès-France, General de Gaulle, Theater, Archives and Bettignies will remain in the configuration before the health crisis.

In many other places, such as rue Pierre-Mauroy for example, cafes or restaurants can extend their terraces after signing a charter and a protocol with the town hall. Very full of restaurants, the streets of Bouchers, de la Monnaie and Gand are now pedestrianized until further notice. Last measure on the subject of terraces, the city has decided to waive the fee for occupying public space for the whole year 2020. This applies to traditional establishments, but also for food trucks and other barracks in fries. This point must nevertheless be validated at the municipal council meeting on June 12.

Parks open gradually from Saturday

As of Saturday, the city will proceed to the gradual reopening of parks and gardens. “The government recommends that it always be in dynamic mode. I consider that if the distances are respected, Lille residents can settle on the lawns without risk, ”says Martine Aubry. On the other hand, the elected representative insisted on the fact that, if the rules were not respected, she could impose the wearing of the mask on the public highway.

The Natural History Museum and the Palace of Fine Arts will also reopen on Tuesday, as well as the sports halls, except for collective and combat sports. For swimming pools, a protocol is expected this weekend. The town hall had in any case not planned to reopen them to the general public before June 24. As for the libraries, no date has been put forward. They therefore continue to be closed to the public, who can nevertheless borrow books in "click & collect".
